My favourite part of Notts Anaconda are the race days, and the huge adrenaline rush you get on the start line!

Hi, I’m Emily. I’m currently doing my A-Levels, studying maths, further maths and physics. I first got into dragon boating in the summer of 2016 when I wanted to fill the holidays and get fitter. I love the team spirit - you’re never in a dragon boat on your own! We all get along really well even though we have very different lives outside the club.

Initially, I was involved in the Notts Anaconda Junior team many years ago. When relocating back to Nottingham due to work commitments, I decided to get back involved with the team. I enjoy the fitness aspect of the sport and training out on the water; instead of being stuck in the gym. I am a JNCO in the Royal Air Force and currently posted to No.1 Air Control Centre at RAF Scampton, Lincolnshire. I have been in the RAF for 13 years and have served on operations in the Falklands, Cyprus and Afghanistan.

As cheesy as it sounds, this club can change your life.

I'm an IT Manager from Mansfield which means a 40 minute drive to training twice a week.

I first got into dragon boating at an open day and was hooked from the second I got in the boat. In the year I have been training with Notts Anaconda I have made countless new friends, been skiing in Italy, paddled through the Grand Canal in Venice, and made some memories that will live with me forever.

I joined up to get fit and have certainly gone some way to achieving that, but the club has given me so much more.

I got into dragon boating quite by accident. It was always something I wanted to try. I'm a member of a few Meet-Up groups and it was through one of these I got an invite to the open day.

I've never looked back! I have only been a member since April but have taken part in two race days already. I hope to do many more.
