Membership Costs & Benefits
Anyone is welcome to come and train with the club for two weeks
(or four sessions) for free, as a taster, before being asked
to sign up to pay subs.
For 2010/2011 subs are £15 per month, payable by standing order.
This covers the cost of rent of the club's facilities and equipment
maintenance.
All racing members are also required to pay £10 per race day
they take part in. This is to cover the cost of entering the race
event. There is no requirement to purchase any club kit or
equipment at any time, although most club members do choose to buy
some items if they attend training regularly and also race for the
club.
Before getting in the boat for the first time, all new paddlers
will be given a basic induction and safety briefing and
will be asked to sign a declaration that they are able to swim
50m in light clothing.
All paddlers are required to wear buoyancy aids between November
and March regardless of experience. Buoyancy aids may also be worn
year round for training and racing if you wish. Buoyancy aids and
paddles are all available from the club to be borrowed for training
sessions or racing.
For those of you who want more training during the year, the
club has negotiated a superb deal with BMF, British Military
Fitness, where for around £12 extra per month, you can attend
their training sessions. They operate hour-long sessions at several
locations in and around Nottingham most days of the week. This
represent a substantial discount from their normal rates. Further
information on their courses and what they can offer can be found
here (opens in
